The Museum of North Texas History

The Museum of North Texas History is pleased to announce that artist; B.R. Gates of Fort Worth, Texas has been selected to participate in the upcoming “Our History in Art” exhibit. Selected works include: Cowboy Sunday.

Entries for the show were required to reflect the history of Wichita Falls or the North Texas region and will be competing for three grand prizes. Winning works will be reproduced as large scale artworks and displayed on the facade of the Museum at 720 Indiana in Historic Downtown Wichita Falls, Texas.

Cow Boy Sunday- A Western Painting by B.R. GatesThis exhibit, competition and public art installation is being made possible through a generous grant from the Priddy Foundation and other interested parties in Wichita Falls. This project will enhance the downtown area, promote tourism and educate the public on the colorful and diverse history of Wichita Falls and our area.

Winners will be announced at the Opening Gala and Artists Reception Friday, June 14. Tickets and reservations for the evening are required. Please contact the Museum at (940) 322-7628 or for information.

The art show will be exhibited from June 15 through August 17, 2013 with a public unveiling of the three outdoor installations on the morning of August 17, 2013.

"Local Artist in National Show”

B.R. Gates has been accepted into the annual member's exhibition for Women Artists of the West (WAOW) held in Fredericksburg, Texas. WAOW is a national organization with over 300 award winning, professional women painters and sculptors from across the country. This non-profit group fosters appreciation and promotion of art created by women. B.R. Gates had to meet strict criteria to be juried into this prestigious organization and her work also had to be juried into the art exhibition. “WAOWing the Texas Hill Country” runs from November 15, 2012 through December 15, 2012, with an opening reception to be held on Friday, December 7th from 5pm to 9pm at the RS Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg.
